A TEAM of trials bikers from Cheshire have taken on a gruelling 24-hour bikeathon in aid of the North West Air Ambulance Charity (NWAA).
Kevin, Scott and Andy Hipwell took on the intense challenge on Friday, July 19, riding throughout the evening into Saturday only stopping briefly to eat and drink.
Before the family team had set off, they’d already beaten their target of raising £1,000 for the lifesaving charity.
They've received a huge amount of support over the weekend, with their total raised now over £5,000 for NWAA.
Kevin Hipwell said: “Having had this challenge in my head for the past 10 years it has finally happened! I’m absolutely blown away by all your kind donations for the North West Air Ambulance Charity.
“Without very good friends and family, this would never have happened so a massive thank you from me!"
One of the charity’s Critical Care Paramedics, Mikey, also joined Kevin and the team. After working on the charity’s night car from 6 pm – 2 am Friday night, Mikey headed down to complete the final twelve hours of their trials ride.
Mikey said: “It’s an absolutely unbelievable achievement, from an amazing family, right at the heart of this sport.
“Getting something like this off the ground, the preparation, the bikes, the course and the supporting team, they have absolutely blown us away. Fundraisers like Kev and his family are at the heart of the charity.”
NWAA relies on public donations and fundraising, it's thanks to the support from people like Kevin, Scott and Andy, that the charity can continue saving lives across the North West.
