Cheshire police are reminding residents they will seize and destroy nuisance off-road bikes, after a video showing one ridden on a football pitch came to the attention of officers.

The video of the young man, seen riding a petrol motocross bike on the Saltworks Farm Playing Fields in Frodsham, has been seen by cops.

In a statement by Chester Rural North Police, officers have reminded residents that such activity is illegal and can see riders having their vehicle confiscated and sent to the crusher.

The statement reads: "A video has come to our attention showing a young male riding a petrol motocross bike on the Saltworks playing field.

"Obviously, this is a public space and not private land, it is also a football field so riding a motocross bike on it is neither acceptable or allowed!

"Those who wish to say he is 'doing nothing wrong' or 'why don't the police give the kids somewhere to ride these bikes', please feel free to offer your garden or privately owned field with suitable public liability insurance and entry fee to cover your costs and I'm sure they will happily come.

"In the meantime, however, anyone seen using these bikes either on or off road illegally (on roads or public land) will have them seized and crushed. You have been warned.

"For the rest of the summer, Op Scrambler police off road bikes will be patrolling the area.

"You know who these people are and where they keep these bikes and now so do, we and we will be coming to seize and destroy them for the continuous illegal and anti-social behaviour they are involved in."
