WIRRAL'S motorists will have five road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And two of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing holdups of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that five closures are due to start over the next two weeks:

• M53, from 9pm August 14 to 5am August 15, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M53 both directions four to 4 - lane closure for barriers - permanent on behalf of National Highways.

• M53, from 9pm August 16 to 5am August 17, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M53 northbound, three to 3 - carriageway closure for carriageway - reconstruction/renewal.

• M53, from 8pm August 19 to 5am August 20, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M53 northbound, one to 2 - carriageway closure for carriageway - reconstruction/renewal on behalf of National Highways.

• M53, from 8pm August 19 to 5am August 30, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M53 both directions J3 to J5 - lane closure for drainage on behalf of National Highways.

• M53, from 9pm August 19 to 5am August 20, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M53 southbound, four to 5 - lane closure for carriageway - reconstruction/renewal on behalf of National Highways.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
