THERE are heavy delays this afternoon on the M56 near Ellesmere Port due to a collision.
The incident, which has taken place within the last hour, is causing queues of traffic between J14 and J12.
The crash itself is reported to have taken place near Helsby. One lane of the carriageway has been closed.
Early indications are that three to four vehicles were involved, although Cheshire Police say that there are not thought to have been any injuries.
National Highways are currently reporting delays of up to one hour in the area, with the carriageway expected to be clear between 5pm and 5.15pm.
The cars are currently being removed from the carriageway.
