The hard work and dedication of Year 13 students at Bishops’ Blue Coat Church of England High School has paid off, with exceptional A-level results announced.
A remarkable 76 per cent of students have achieved A* to C grades at the Great Boughton, Chester school, matching the national average. This outstanding achievement is a direct reflection of the unwavering dedication and hard work exhibited by Year 13 students. Their commitment to learning and personal growth has been instrumental to their collective and individual success.
Andy Owen, head of sixth form, expressed his immense pride in the cohort: “I am incredibly proud of everything our Year 13 students have accomplished.
"Their hard work, dedication, and resilience have been inspiring. These results are a testament to their character and will undoubtedly serve as a solid foundation for their future endeavours as they go on to access a broad range of destinations. They have been an outstanding cohort in their commitment to both Sixth Form life and the wider school.”
Head boy Luke Gibson said: “I am so pleased with my results and glad all the hard work paid off!”
Students have developed skills for examination success alongside subject-specific knowledge across our broad range of courses. A total of 55 per cent of Level 3 BTEC students received a Distinction* or Distinction grade (equivalent to A*/A). The equivalent A*/A including BTEC meets national figures.
These achievements are remarkable in a national context where top grades are rising.
There have been outstanding achievements across the board, including Adam Gibson, David Freeman, Ruby Roberts-Nightingale, Oliver Davies and Emily Clarke who achieved a suite of A* and A grades. Students are moving forward into varied and exciting destinations including, University of York, University of Liverpool, Chester University, students going on to complete degree apprenticeships in business and joining the police force.
Helen Cairns, headteacher, said: "I am delighted to celebrate the successes of the class of 2024 today. They are a year group known for their ambition and commitment to personal achievement.
"Every child I spoke to today had received results that unlock their destination of choice. They are also a year group known for their contributions to Bishops’.
"They have been ambassadors and role models for other year groups and as they move forward into future destinations they will continue to inspire."
