LOOKING for a day out that will please the whole family, can be quite the task.
Add man's best friend into the mix, and it can be tough to find something to please everyone.
Here, the Chester Standard has rounded-up nine popular places that welcome dogs.
From all out fun, a bit of history and exploring to refreshments, we think our list is a people and pooch pleaser...
• Quarry Bank Mill, Styal
The National Trust property welcomes dogs, and with more than 400 acres to explore, there's plenty of space for them to enjoy.
Dogs must be kept on a lead in the Mill Yard, garden, Styal village, woodlands and countryside as well as footpaths through the main visitor areas. Dogs on leads are also welcome with visitors to the Upper Garden Café.
There are drinking bowls available and dog waste bins.
• Beeston Castle
Dogs on leads are welcome at the English Heritage site of a medieval castle. Set above the Cheshire Plain, it has spectacular views.
On a clear day, you can see all the way from the Pennines to the mountains of Welsh.
With plenty to see and do, all members of the family will be entertained.
• Anderton Boat Lift & Visitor Centre
Friendly dogs are welcome to Anderton, and on boat trips (at boat master's discretion).
The site is home to plenty or wildlife and wildflowers, including bats, bug hotels, ducks, swans, moorhens and rare orchids.
• Pheasant Inn, Tattenhall
The award-winning dog-friendly pub also has 12 boutique dog-friendly bedrooms, and is situated with some of the finest dog walks in Cheshire on their doorstep.
Whether drinking, dining or staying, enjoy the views with your four-legged friend by your side.
• Manley Mere, Frodsham
The centre offers plenty for those seeking something a bit different, with its adventure trail and water park.
Dogs on leads are welcome to join in the fun over 18 acres of woodland. The fun can get muddy, bring a towel!
• The Botanist, St Werburgh Street
The quirky city centre bar and restaurant prides itself on being dog-friendly, including its outdoor area.
• Sandstone Trail
The stunning trail stretches 34 miles and dogs are welcome but should be kept under close control, especially near farm buildings and livestock.
ITV viewers voted it one of Britain’s Favourite Walks.
• Crocky Trail
Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome at the mile-long adventure trail for children, with slides, rope swings, climbs and a chain bridge, plus cafe.
• Arley Hall & Gardens, Northwich
Dogs on leads are welcome in all areas of the formal gardens, and in the informal gardens of the Grove and Woodland Walk. They can join owners for a rest in the café and can even pick up a doggy-related souvenir in the gift shop.
Water bowls and dog waste bins are available.
