The class of 2024 have done brilliantly this year, surpassing all expectations at The Bishops' Blue Coat Church of England High School in Chester.
Almost three quarters of the cohort were awarded a grade 4 or above, and a fifth of grades awarded were a 7 or above.
These GCSE results are a testament to the students’ passions and interests, which have been carefully nurtured and developed throughout their time at Bishops’, opening doors to access post-16 courses.
The school’s supportive environment and commitment to fostering individual strengths have empowered our students to excel, even in the face of significant challenges. Their achievements reflect not only their hard work but also the guidance and encouragement they received from their teachers, parents and carers and the wider school community.
Jenny Sadler, Year Lead for Year 11, said: “This year group has overcome so many hurdles due to the impact of Covid in their earlier years at Bishops’.
"Back in 2020 when they were in Year 8, they were the year group that were particularly affected by ‘bubbles bursting’ and contact tracing.
"Throughout their GCSE journey, my message has been for them to believe in themselves and to utilise the support around them. The result of their hard work and resilience is celebrated today and has been nothing short of transformational.
"It has been a privilege to work with this year group and support them on their journey. I am excited to hear of their future endeavours.”
Bishops’ is proud to announce that a significant number of students achieved top grades of 9s and 8s across a wide range of subjects.
Of note are food & nutrition, psychology, chemistry, biology and physics all of which secured at least 90 per cent of their grades above a 4 and furthermore at least 40 per cent of their grades above a 7.
