A DOG was spotted running along the M53 motorway yesterday (Wednesday, August 28).
Merseyside Police and National Highways received a report that a small brown dog had been spotted running on the motorway at around 12.03pm.
The report stated that the dog had been seen running along the slip road at Junction 1 (Bidston Island).
National Highways patrol attended the scene and spoke to the dogwalker who was parked on the hard shoulder of the slip.
National Highways searched the area along the motorway with Merseyside Police.
A National Highways spokesperson said: “Unfortunately, no trace of the dog was found.
“A later report was received that a dog had been spotted in the Kingsway Tunnel and National Highways contacted Mersey Tunnel Police who have jurisdiction for that area.”
