A WATER tower close to the city centre built in 1935 is set to go under the hammer next month.
The Overleigh Water Tower, Handbridge, is to be put up for auction by BidX1 on behalf of Severn Trent Water on September 19, with a reserve price of £25,000.
The property comprises an octagonal concrete water tower constructed by the Chester Water Works Co in 1935.
The tower sits in a securely fenced level and largely grassed site of some 0.231 hectares (0.57 acres) with some rooftop telecommunication aerial equipment.
There is a separate single storey workshop building of approximately 20.80m (70 ft) x 7.6m (25 ft).
The site has gated vehicular access and to the rear the fenced boundary runs alongside Eaton Mews.
It is understood that utility services including water, electricity and telecoms are available on the site, and foul sewerage and gas can be found in the public highway.
The property is located to the south of the city centre, upon the south side of the River Dee and is approached off the A483 Grosvenor Road linking Overleigh Road with the city centre.
The roof top telecoms mast is let to EE Limited at a rent of £10,181.04 per annum.
