A rooftop leisure hub in the heart of Chester city centre is to open its doors next month.

Rooftop Social Club has announced it will be opening its venue at the top two floors of the Pepper Street multi-storey car park in October.

The all-weather venue will feature a retractable roof, heated cabanas and a fully accessible layout, with capacity for up to 300 guests.

Rooftop Social Club is the latest venture from seasoned hospitality operators, iKO Projects, which has operated venues across Chester and the North West including Liquor & Co.

The new venue offers a wide range of games and activities for guests of all ages, including cornhole, curling, and pétanque. There will also be seasonal events such as open-air cinema evenings, artisan markets and yoga sessions. Beyond its regular offerings, the venue will also be available for private functions.

A total of four independent Chester-based street food traders will offer a diverse selection of dishes. The drinks menu is curated by the team behind Liquor & Co.

The space, which will also welcome pop-ups from local businesses, charities and community events, will create more than 40 new jobs within the local area, with applications opening in the next month via its website.

Ian Gordon, director of iKO Projects, said: "After extensive planning we're thrilled to bring Rooftop Social Club to Chester and create something new and exciting for the city.

"Our goal is to create a space where everyone feels welcome, whether you're here for a quick bite, a celebratory event or a relaxing day out with the family. We can’t wait to open our doors and start welcoming guests this autumn."

The proposal was developed with Grosvenor’s Eaton Estate, which manages and works to improve a range of agricultural, residential and commercial properties in rural Cheshire and parts of Chester city centre.

Nigel Driver, head of commercial property management at Grosvenor’s Eaton Estate, said: “Rooftop Social Club will provide a unique experience for people in Chester to enjoy, enhancing the city’s offering and contributing to its economic vibrancy.”
