ONE of Chester’s most unique shops has closed with the building having been put up for sale.
Dollectable on Lower Bridge Street had been a feature of the city centre for decades, with its antique dolls inspiring fear and fascination in equal measure.
The shop contained a large range of dolls, some of which were understood to be more than a century old, dating back to the Victorian era.
Dolls from this era often had either wax faces – which could later crack, adding to their unnerving appearance – or porcelain and a majority were made in Germany and France.
For some, Dollectable’s window displays were a source of nightmare fuel, with the store referred to as ‘scariest’ shop in Chester, for others it preserved and celebrated a craftsmanship from a bygone period.
The three-storey, Grade II listed building is now currently up for sale with Legat Owen.
The Tudor townhouse, which comprises 1,166 sq. ft and includes many original features such as beamed ceilings, and an inglenook fireplace, is inviting offers in the region of £295,000.
More information on the property is available on the Legat Owen website.
