A SERIOUS collision on the A55 involved a car and a motorbike, police have confirmed today (Wednesday).
The crash occurred on the A55 westbound at Ewloe Green, shortly before 5pm yesterday (Tuesday, September 24)
The A55 and A494 were closed off to motorists from Junction 34 (westbound), affecting all traffic going into north Wales.
There was heavy congestion in the area, particularly at Ewloe, with over 30-minutes of delays.
Emergency services attended the incident, including North Wales Police and Welsh Air Ambulance. Traffic was held to allow the ambulance team to land safely.
A police spokesperson said: "We were called at 4.44pm reporting a road traffic collision on the A55 westbound at Ewloe Green, involving a car and a motorbike.
"Officers attended alongside colleagues from WAST, NWFRS and Helimed.
"The road was closed in both directions whilst the incident was dealt with and reopened at approximately 7.15pm."
A Wales Air Ambulance spokesperson said: "Our Welshpool-based team were allocated at 16:49 and attended by air.
"We arrived at the scene at 17:14. Our involvement concluded at 19:23.”
