A CARE home in Chester has partnered with a food bank to launch a new drop-off point for unwanted items.

To celebrate this year’s Harvest Festival, residents and team members at Care UK’s Deewater Grange, on Chester Road, are encouraging the local community to donate their extra, unused or unwanted non-perishable food items to Chester’s new foodbank drop-off-point – located in the care home’s reception.

The foodbank, which will see donations made to West Cheshire Food Bank, will be live at Deewater Grange from Tuesday, October 1 and closes on Thursday, October 31 with the drop-off point located in the home’s reception.

The food bank has shared five items needed this harvest, including tinned meats, tinned potatoes, instant noodle pots, biscuits and snacks, and pasta sauces.

As part of the celebrations, residents will be visiting the West Cheshire Food Bank for a tour of the warehouse, and to learn about the importance of foodbanks.

Sally Cooper, Home Manager at Deewater Grange, said: “At Deewater Grange, we are always looking for ways to give back and support our community and local charities, which is why we’re delighted to be partnering with West Cheshire Food Bank and launching our first ever foodbank drop-off point.

“In these challenging times, we know many people may be struggling, and with Christmas fast approaching, it’s more important than ever to support foodbanks which provide a vital lifeline for many members of our local community.

“We’d encourage those who have unwanted or unused items to come and visit Deewater Grange and support us to help those in need.”
