A Chester leisure centre is part of the latest meme trend by hoping to go viral with a site tour inspired by Gen Z language.

The trend has seen a number of businesses across the UK take the viewer around, under the heading 'Our Gen Z marketing colleague wrote the site tour'.

Gen Z – or Zoomers – is the term used to describe people born between the late 1990s and the early 2010s, and the language used in the videos is deliberately designed to tailor to that audience, no matter how confusing it may sound to. For those belonging to Generation Y/Millennials, Generation X, Baby Boomers or the Silent Generation – The Standard will provide subtitles where applicable.

Within the video, Brio Leisure commercial director Paula Jamieson takes viewers on a tour around Chester's Northgate Arena, taking in its many features, starting with: "Hey besties [friends], why not put a cutesy [classy] end to a brat summer [chaotic, messy lifestyle] here at Brio Leisure?

The video adds: "From waterslides to hashtag [#] relaxation – slay [impressive] – we really understood the assignment [we have done an exceptional job].

"See our court space? Very cutesy, very mindful [looking good].

"Need some workout inspo [inspiration]? Say less...no workout delulu [delusion] in this house, fam [gang].

"Hundy p [One hundred per cent] you need to start your gym girl era [focus on health and fitness that's good for mind and body] with us."

The origin of this social media trend is unknown, but one of the first to attract a wide audience was Currys where a store employee says – among other Gen Z phrases – an air fryer is "the goat" [greatest of all time]. Said video has millions of views on TikTok.

The most popular so far has been the Royal Armouries Museum, where 65-year-old military expert Mark Murray-Flutter bombards the viewer with Gen Z slang such as "dioramas are lit [exciting]".

The Brio Leisure promotional video's message, ultimately, is to let viewers know there are a range of facilities available at Northgate Arena, with memberships available from £20 [a score].
