Schoolchildren in Chester have celebrated positive ageing with a unique art exhibition.
The Wyldewoods, Chester's newest integrated retirement community, teamed up with local schools to create the exhibition at Storyhouse Theatre.
Pupils from Boughton Heath Academy, Christleton Primary School, and Waverton Primary School joined forces with The Wyldewoods team, the Lord Mayor of Chester, and the Storyhouse Elders Group to showcase their artwork.
The art project, which began earlier this year, tasked the schools with creating artwork of older people who inspire them.
This artwork now decorates the hoardings around the retirement village.
The exhibition was a celebration of creativity, allowing attendees to explore the artwork, engage with the young artists, and reflect on the project's inspiring theme.
Tim Seddon, CEO at Retirement Villages Group, said: "It was a lovely moment for me to see the enthusiasm and creativity that these young people put into their work and the positive impact their nannas and grandads clearly have on them.
"And when asked what it was that inspired them about older people in their lives, there were definite themes around cuddles and food.
"Overall, the exhibition was a powerful representation of the values that are at the heart of The Wyldewoods – a community that cherishes intergenerational bonds, community, and having a strong purpose in life.
"It was a fantastic example of the community coming together in a positive way, which has been a core ambition for The Wyldewoods from the outset."
The Wyldewoods, part of the Thrive Living Collection, is set to launch later this year.
It focuses on well-being and supporting independent living, providing residents with the opportunity to stay connected to their local community as they age.
