A CHESHIRE restaurant which was named the best in the North West has received another award.
This time, The Raj in Culcheth has been named as Best Restaurant in this year’s Curry Life Awards.
The prestigious awards, staged by Britain’s renowned curry magazine, Curry Life, took place at a glittering event on Sunday at the London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square in Mayfair.
They are an annual celebration of British curry houses.
Speaking after the ceremony, owner Anhar Miah said: "I’m thrilled, it’s an endorsement of the strong reputation we have built among the locals.
"Everyone can find something they like and perhaps discover something new, or get the chance to experiment with different flavours."
It comes after The Raj was named as Best Restaurant in the North West at the Tommy Miah International Indian Chef Awards last month.
The Raj opened its doors nearly 30 years ago with the aim of bringing the rich, bold flavours of India to Culcheth.
The team believe that great food is about more than just taste, it is about community, connection and a shared love for authentic cuisine.
There are currently four chefs at the restaurant – two tandoori chefs and two curry chefs.
The inspiration behind many of the dishes comes from Anhar’s travels - he visited India last year and picked up some ideas for potential new dishes such as a jackfruit curry with spices and potatoes.
