A FLOOD warning has been issued for streets in Chester today (Thursday, October 17) following an extended period of heavy rain.
Several areas near the city have already seen flood waters, however Gov.uk is now advising that streets near the Countess of Chester Country Park specifically are ‘expected’ to flood.
This comes as a wider flood alert – a milder form of alert in which flooding is deemed ‘possible’ – remains in place for large parts of Chester and Ellesmere Port.
The more severe flood warning is expected to affect locations near the Finchetts Gutter, which includes low lying land and roads around Parkgate Road, including Abbotsmeads and Abbots Terrace.
A further update is scheduled for 5pm today.
Cheshire West has been badly affected by flooding which has come as a result of more than 24 hours of heavy rain and river levels remain high in the area.
Several rural roads have been flooded leaving some areas cut off, and some residents were even evacuated from their homes during particularly heavy downpours yesterday.
Emergency services have been hard at work, sending crews to various locations including Farndon, Lower Kinnerton and Crowton.
There are also multiple road closures in place whilst Council and emergency service teams clear the flood water from several routes.
