FLOOD warnings for Chester and surrounding areas have been removed this morning (Monday, October 21) after a prolonged period of heavy rain for the region.
A large area from Parkgate to Chester, including much of Neston, parts of Blacon, Puddington, Saltney and parts of the city centre close to the River Dee, such as the Groves, had been identified as a potential flood risk.
However, whilst river levels remain high on the Dee, Gov.uk are now expecting these to fall.
The latest update, published shortly after 9am this morning, has confirmed that the flood warning is no longer in place.
Chester and surrounding areas were badly affected last week by heavy rain which cause flooding, particularly in some rural areas like Lower Kinnerton, and close to the centre of the city in areas near the Countess of Chester Country Park.
The flooding resulted in several road closures and some residents needed the aid of the emergency services to leave their houses, or free themselves from vehicles.
The Met Office is forecasting more settled weather for Cheshire West this week, with sunny and partly cloudy periods expected throughout.
Temperatures are forecast to remain around 15 degrees throughout the week, with the chances of rain relatively low until Friday (October 25).
