AHEAD of the eagerly anticipated opening of Chester’s first Turtle Bay location, The Standard took a look around the new restaurant.
The popular Caribbean-themed chain is set to officially open its doors on Thursday (October 24).
Located next to the New Chester Market on Exchange Square, the 3,000 sq ft restaurant has been decorated with colourful murals, neon lights, and its central bar is one of the company’s largest, designed to accommodate up to twelve bartenders.
The restaurant has bar-style seating at the front of the unit, which can also be used for dining, and more traditional small tables through the central part of the space.
The open kitchen and grill pit, where a range of mouth-watering Caribbean dishes will be cooked, overlooks elevated banquette seating towards the back, this space can also double as a stage for live music.
The opening also coincides with the launch of a new menu, which will include all of the brand’s signature fare such as jerk chicken, curries and stews, and small plates together with brand new Reggae Roast dishes. All menus also feature veggie and vegan options.
Its popular Bottomless Brunch will also feature, with diners able to enjoy the brand’s famous rum cocktails and more across two hours of unlimited drinks.
Turtle Bay will have space for a total of 154 covers (132 inside and 22 outside).
Manager Chris Nolan has more than 20 years of experience in the restaurant industry and is excited to show Chester what the brand is all about.
Chris said: “We feel that we’re very different from what is currently on offer and that local residents will really enjoy the experience.
“There’s fantastic food and brunch dishes available on our menu, a range of cocktails that we make fresh. On Saturday’s event [Caribbean BBQ] we did 750 Reggae Rum Punches, and we even had people from Jamaica who’d turn up specially and they said it was just like home.
“If they’re saying that, then we’re doing our job right.”
Chris added: “If you haven’t visited us before, come and give us a try, we have a new menu with something for everyone.
“We’re also launching our Reggae Roasts which will be something different for the area, a Caribbean take on the traditional Sunday Roast.
“We do food for those who may not like spice, with the likes of our Trini Cod, and we have our fabulous drinks too.”
