A MAN has been charged with causing the death of a teenage woman by dangerous driving on the M6 in Cheshire in 2022.

Chloe Williams was just 19 when the Volkswagen Polo she was travelling in collided with three other vehicles on Friday, December 2, 2022.

Front seat passenger Chloe, from Dudley, was taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital.

Despite the best efforts of those involved, she sadly died of injuries sustained in the crash.

The collision happened on the northbound carriageway between junction 16, for Crewe, and junction 17, for Sandbach.

Daniel Barlow, of Burnley Road, Crawshawbooth, Rossendale, was arrested on the day of the crash on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, and bailed pending further enquiries.

The 27-year-old has since been issued with a postal requisition ordering him to appear at Crewe Magistrates’ Court on Monday, November 4.

The defendant faces charges of causing death by dangerous driving, two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and making a false statement to obtain a driving licence.

The charges relate to a collision which occurred at around 5.15pm on Friday, December 2, 2022 on the M6 northbound between junction 16 and junction 17.

After the multi-vehicle crash, Chloe’s family paid tribute to their ‘beautiful girl’.

A spokesperson for the family said: “We have lost our beautiful girl in the most tragic way.

“She was about to start her dream career and has now had all that taken away.”

An inquest into Chloe’s death was suspended for the fourth time on October 16 whilst a criminal investigation is still underway.

Senior coroner Jacqueline Devonish suspended the inquest at a hearing in Cheshire Coroners’ Court until January 23, 2025, for a review of the case.
