FARM-TO-TABLE restaurant, twenty eight, is celebrating its first anniversary after some rave reviews over the past twelve months.

The Chester-based restaurant continues to impress, drawing praise from top national critics including The Telegraph’s William Sitwell and The Times’ Giles Coren.

Recognised for its fresh, locally sourced ingredients and inventive dishes, twenty eight is quickly becoming a must-visit spot in the UK.

Twenty eight is the sister restaurant to Michelin-recommended, Chef’s Table, both of which have just celebrated the first year of service on Pepper Street. Founded by Head Chef, Liam McKay, twenty eight has quickly become a destination dining spot in Chester. Central to its farm-to-table philosophy is a close partnership with Daresbury farm, Growing @ Field 28. This provides the restaurant with access to the freshest local ingredients and helps extend their growing commitment to minimizing waste.

The menu led by Head Chef, Jay Tanner, offers an ever-changing array of tapas-style dishes that blend British and international influences. Earlier this year, Giles Coren described the restaurant "worth the visit to Chester itself”. Which was then followed by a visit from William Sitwell, who gave the venue 4-stars, stating it was a “great-value leap around the world, full of flavour, fun and charm”.

Liam McKay, the founder of both restaurants and Head Chef at Chef’s Table, said:

“We're incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved with twenty eight in just one year. The support from our local community along with national recognition has been amazing. It’s great to see both venues finding their place on Pepper Street, and we’re eager to continue evolving.”

Guests can also look forward to a series of special events at both venues this Autumn. On Sunday, October 27, at 2pm, Chef’s Table will host ‘Oktoberfeast’, a rustic three-course lunch with an Alsatian twist, paired with five exquisite wines from Alsace.

Next up, twenty eight will host supplier dinner, ‘Uncorked: Waterkloof Wines’ on Sunday, November 3, at 3pm. The event offers a 6-course wine tasting paired with a seasonal menu and will be hosted by none other than Louis Boutinot, the next generation behind Waterkloof Estate’s award-winning wines. Finalising the Autumn line-up, both restaurants will join up on Wednesday, November 6, from 6:30pm for a seasonal small plate pairing celebration with a focus on award-winning ciders provided by Chester’s ‘That Beer Place.’
