THE City of Chester Archers will be able to increase the number of spaces available for beginners after securing funding from The Marshes Community Benefit Fund.
The £1,158 grant will fund the training of two coaches and the hire of Frodsham Leisure Centre sports hall, where the course will run.
This will allow the club to offer beginner course places to at least 15 people from the local area, and leave them with the additional trained coaches to run more courses in future as well as helping to continue to develop the skills of the archers after they have completed their courses.
City of Chester Archers is a friendly local archery club which attracts a lot of interest from people wanting to take up the sport. In order to join the club, beginners need to complete a six-week course to meet the minimum standards of safety and competency expected by the national governing body Archery GB.
The object of the club is “To promote and encourage the sport of target archery”. In furtherance of this would be to develop and promote participation to archers of all eligible groups: Seniors including U25, U18, and archers with disabilities.
The Marshes Community Benefit Fund, linked to Frodsham Windfarm, provides funding to local community groups, charities, schools, businesses and clubs to support not-for-profit projects designed to benefit the local communities. The fund can award up to £170,000 per year across two funding cycles.
