A Saltney Brownies unit has received £500 to help with its running costs.

St Mark's Brownies, based at Saltney Church Hall, applied for assistance to cover general expenses such as rent, equipment, and resources for badge activities.

The money will also be used to help with the 'increasing cost' of out-of-unit activities.

Unit leader Beth Jones said: "We welcome all girls from seven to 10-years-old for nonstop fun, learning, and adventure.

"Redrow’s donation means we have been able to mitigate the need to significantly increase our charge for each term.

"The girls in our pack come from families with varying financial circumstances and with the cost-of-living crisis we are currently in, it is important to us to keep the cost for families to a minimum so no girl misses out on the opportunities and experience Girlguiding provides."

Ms Jones said: "With a helpful hand from our encouraging volunteers and myself, girls can explore their creative side, get out into the great outdoors, and start learning to look after themselves giving them skills they’ll have with them for life."

Girlguiding offers a wide range of experiences for its members, from growing plants and cooking to camping and bushcraft.

Amanda Hollins, area sales manager for Redrow NW, said: "Girlguiding is well known to encourage girls to grow in confidence and to speak up, be creative and challenge issues in the world.

"They also assist in the wider community so we were more than happy to give St Mark’s Brownies a donation towards running costs."
