A DANGEROUS motorcycle rider tried to evade the police.
Moulton resident Jake Dickens has been banned from driving for two years.
It comes after the 31-year-old attempted to speed away from Cheshire Police officers, having been caught using an unlicensed vehicle.
Sentencing on Monday (October 28), Judge Patrick Thompson said: “You knew you didn’t have appropriate license plates and shouldn’t have been driving.
“You put your foot down, driving between 84 and 92mph on a 70mph road.
“You didn’t help your case by denying you had been out on a bike. A denial you maintained right up until day of the trial.”
Prosecuting, Will Griffin explained how an unmarked police car spotted Dickens riding a green Kawasaki motorcycle on the A556 Rudheath on June 15, 2023.
The officer, who felt Dickens was wearing ‘unsuitable’ shorts, tried to stop the bike.
However, Dickens sped off, reaching speeds of 84 to 92mph in a 70mph zone, as well as travelling at 40mph in a 20mph zone.
He nearly dropped the bike before doing a U-turn and making off toward Davenham Roundabout, escaping the pursuing officer.
Soon after, he was spotted by a second unmarked police car, who believed Dickens was using potential cloned licence plates.
Officers went to Dickens’ home, on Britten Crescent, where he arrived at around 3pm with a yellow Yamaha motorbike, wearing shorts and sweating ‘profusely’.
He answered no comment when interviewed and had been due to stand trial on September 16, 2024.
However, on the morning of the trial he pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, using a motor vehicle without third party insurance, and driving without a licence.
Mr Griffin added that Dickens, who repairs motorcycles for a living, has seven previous convictions for 12 offences, including driving whilst disqualified and uninsured in 2020.
Judge Thompson sentenced Dickens to 12 months imprisonment, suspended for two years, and handed him a two-year driving ban.
He also ordered Dickens complete 200 hours of unpaid work and 25 days of rehabilitation activity.
