A DINER was ‘disgusted’ when staff at a Cheshire West KFC seemed 'unbothered' when she reported poo 'smeared all over' the ladies' toilets.
The Winsford resident, who wishes to remain anonymous, called into the Chester Way restaurant in Northwich for a bite to eat with her partner just before 2pm on Saturday, October 27.
The 25-year-old ordered at the counters before popping to the loo, but the ‘disgusting’ mess she found made her think again.
One of the cubicles, including the toilet itself, sanitary bin, and floor were all smeared with faeces, which she said smelled ‘worse than pig poo’.
She said it has also been stepped in and walked through.
And instead of cleaning it up, staff had just put up a sign which said ‘caution, wet floor’.
She approached staff, who said they were aware of the poo, but hadn’t had time to clean it.
They agreed to give her a refund for the food she’d ordered before she found she’d lost her appetite.
She said: “The place needs shaming. People were in there with their children. It’s disgusting.
“I don’t even know what we were thinking going anywhere near it.
“It smelled worse than pig poo, and it was smeared on the floor, the toilet seat, the sanitary bin, and it had been stepped in and walked through.
“The worst thing is the staff knew all about it.
“I spoke to two members of staff and one just said ‘yeah, I’ve heard about that'.
“The other one said they hadn’t had chance to have a look at it yet.
“All they’d done is put a wet floor sign up.
“Once I saw it, we walked straight out. There is no way we were going to eat anything from there.
“They refunded my money without question.
“A wet floor sign just doesn’t cut it. How can they justify the state of this?
“They were completely unbothered by it, and who knows how long it had been like that as it looked a bit dry on the floor.”
Earlier this month, KFC scotched rumours its Northwich restaurant was set to close after its landlord advertised the building for sale by auction with a guide price of £1.25 million.
KFC responded to a request for comment about the poo by saying staff at Northwich ‘redirected’ customers with signs, adding employees aren’t always in a position to clean up this kind of mess straight away.
It’s spokesman added: “We have strict hygiene processes in place to ensure every visit to KFC Chester Way is up to the colonel’s high standards.
“Our guest toilets are available to everyone, and while we ask all of our visitors to be respectful, we don’t always have time to sort these situations out immediately.
“On this occasion, we had signs in place to redirect customers.
“But we appreciate this wasn’t a great experience for our guest, so we refunded her meal.”
