A COUPLE are keeping it in the family as they get set to open a new farm shop.
Rackery Farm Shop, situated on Straight Mile in Llay, is set to open its doors in mid-November.
Jake and Larissa Rees, the owners of the shop, are looking to showcase the best products that the area has to offer.
"It's locally sourced produce from businesses across Wrexham," Larissa said. "It's a real community effort, and, as much as we can, we're going to support and showcases smaller Wrexham businesses."
And the couple say they are looking to offer something new and different for the area.
Larissa said:" We're looking not just to be a shop that people pop in and out of, but more a destination that people can spend longer at. We have a cafe which has seats for 40 people, and there is a designated walk on our land which would be ideal for dog walkers.
"We also want to showcase that agriculture is at the heart of the shop, and maybe invite schools down to learn more about farming and have an educational element."
Larissa added: "It's been a dream of ours over the last decade. I grew up on our family farm which stretches across Burton, Rossett and Llay. I ended up going to work in the corporate world but always wanted to do something linked to the farm. We started building in May and it's really taken off. The community council has been brilliant in supporting us.
"We've built on land owned by mum and dad (Jenny and Andy Jones) and my sister and brother-in-law (Vicky and Dave Matthews) are dairy farmers who took over from my dad - they will be supplying us the milk.
"It's a great time to open, there's a real buzz around Wrexham at the moment with everything happening with the football club. We're so excited and we can't wait to welcome people to the shop."
