TWO public consultation events took place at Chester Racecourse this week as Chester Race Company set out plans to update the venue over the next 15 years.
The events, held on Monday and Tuesday, saw members of the public, nearby residents and stakeholders visit the Racecourse to learn more about two key projects which will shape the first phase of development.
Chester Race Company plans to build a new hospitality building within the course enclosure, replacing the current temporary ‘Tented Village’ and pavilion bar with a permanent multi-use venue.
There are also plans to create a facilities hub on Saddlery Way, incorporating office space, stable staff accommodations and operational facilities. The hub will bring together Chester Race Company’s departments into one location.
The plans, which are now well-advanced and approaching submission to Cheshire West and Chester Council for planning approval, have been refined based on feedback received in July.
A spokesperson for Chester Race Company said: “We had approximately 60 to 70 people who dropped in over the two days for the sessions from 4pm to 7pm, which we were happy with.
“Overall, it was a great opportunity to present the updates [from the previous consultation in July] and the feedback was very positive, and visitors were very receptive and excited to see the developments.
“The event was an open forum, and we will be going back to the designs and taking on further comments from these sessions as we review them and decide on the next steps.”
