THERE was a large emergency response in Ellesmere Port last night (Tuesday, November 12) after a gas canister triggered a fire in a block of flats.
Four fire engines were called to scene at Joseph Groome Towers in the town centre at around 5.45pm.
The fire had started after a small canister that was being used as part of remedial works to a bathroom had ignited.
The sprinkler system for the building, successful activated within the flat and managed to supress the fire before it could spread any further.
Firefighters isolated the sprinkler system and then ventilated the affected property.
There were no reports of any injuries.
