Cheshire West and Chester Council is offering free driving assessments to help mature drivers stay safe.
The initiative, targeting drivers over 65, aims to refresh driving skills and address any concerns to ensure safe driving for longer.
Cheshire West and Chester Council's road safety team has organised these assessments.
These are specifically designed for drivers over the age of 65, a group more frequently involved in road incidents as drivers, passengers, and pedestrians.
The Road Safety Trust is funding 50 spots to raise awareness of road safety issues within this age group.
The council’s deputy leader and cabinet member for environment, transport and highways, Councillor Karen Shore, said: "An assessment can reassure you that you are still safe to drive.
"As we get older, our reflexes can start to slow.
"We may develop aches and pains that we never had before, which can affect confidence in getting out and about in the community safely.
"This assessment will refresh your driving skills, restore your confidence, and help you to drive safer for longer, maintaining your independence."
The assessment lasts about 60 minutes and will be conducted in the driver's car, from their home, on familiar roads.
The funding for this initiative comes as part of a national evaluation of the standardised mature driver assessment scheme.
While the assessment is free, participants will need to complete a short, anonymous online questionnaire and driving quiz two weeks before and four weeks after the review.
