A YELLOW weather warning remains in place across Chester and surrounding areas this morning (Thursday, November 21) as ice affects much of the North West.
As reported in the Standard’s cold weather blog, the initial warning was issued yesterday afternoon, with icy stretches expected to form on untreated surfaces across the region overnight.
Patches of ice may be present on untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths and the Met Office is advising people to be cautious of slippery surfaces when out and about.
The Met Office also advises those making journeys to plan ahead and leave plenty of time to avoid rushing and thereby risking trips and falls.
If you need to make a journey on foot, try to use pavements along main roads which are likely to be less slippery. Similarly, if cycling, try and stick to main roads which are more likely to have been treated.
Give yourself the best chance of avoiding delays by checking road conditions if driving, or bus and train timetables, amending your travel plans if necessary.
The warning is not expected to last into the weekend; however conditions are being monitored closely.
