AN inquest has been opened into the death of a pensioner following care concerns raised at the Countess of Chester Hospital.
Sybil Christian, of Aaron Court Nursing Home, Ellesmere Court, was admitted to the Chester hospital on October 15 with reduced conscious levels, Cheshire Coroners Court heard.
The 94-year-old had deep sacral sores and raised infection markers and during treatment at the hospital became ‘more unwell’.
Her death was sadly confirmed on November 4 and an inquest is required due to care concerns raised during her treatment at the Countess of Chester.
Senior coroner of Cheshire, Jacqueline Devonish formally opened the inquest on Tuesday (November 20).
She said: “On the evidence I have heard, I am satisfied that this requires an inquest.
“I shall therefore formally open an inquest to be heard on April 24, 2025.”
