A GROUP of Travellers are facing legal action after they set up an unauthorised camp at Ellesmere Port Sports Village last week.
The group, who travelled to the site in three caravans, have been at the location since Thursday, November 21.
As the site is Council-owned land, the issue will be managed by Cheshire and Warrington Traveller Team, who will assess the camp based on issues of welfare, obstruction of local services and cleanliness.
The Council can issue a section 77 notice to a group to direct them to leave by an agreed date, but if the group ignore this, then a magistrates’ court can take the matter further.
The Council have stated in an update today that a court order is being obtained to move the group on, likely a section 78 possession order.
