AN APPLICATION to make more changes to a retirement village development nearing completion in Chester have been approved by planning officers.
The plans, for the former Beechmoor Nurseries site in Whitchurch Road, Chester, were approved by officers at Cheshire West and Chester Council (CWaC) Council last week.
The 147-dwelling development, which is a series of retirement villas and apartments, was given the go-ahead in March 2023 and construction is almost complete.
The retirement village includes a community shop, gym, wellness suite and café, which will be open to people living in the area.
However, it has been the subject of a number of non-material amendments with the latest submitted earlier in November.
This was for work including revisions to brickwork plinth detail as well as changes from curtain walling to brick work (where Block B and Block C meet).
Curtain glazing returns to avoid window clash with Block B and a tree relocated from the centre of the site to the eastern boundary to avoid an attenuation tank.

A kitchen flue will be added to roof plan of Block B while a small condenser proposed to the front of Block B and across blocks A and B, flat roofs will be replaced by a hip roof.
Roof lights will be changed in Block B and also, there will be the inclusion of electric vehicle charge point cabinets along the northern boundary and to the east of the car parking spaces in the southern part of the site.
Case officer Lyndsay Shimmer said the proposed amendments should be approved as they are ‘not deemed to be significant changes that would have a material impact in terms of the wider scheme’.
She added: “They would not conflict with the description of development on the decision notice and would not result in a breach of conditions attached to the planning permission.
“The proposed amended scheme will still comply with relevant national and local policy provisions as considered under the original application.
“As such, it is considered that the proposed changes could be made via a non-material amendment.
“The proposal is therefore recommended for approval and the conditions updated as proposed.”
The proposed changes were approved by council planning officers on Tuesday, November 26.
