A ‘DEVASTATED’ Ellesmere Port woman who ‘guesstimated’ whether she would be over the legal limit has apologised for her actions.
Seren Ford, 24 and of Hurford Avenue in Great Sutton, pleaded guilty to one charge of drink driving at Chester Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
Crown prosecutor Valeriya Tonkinson told the court that on September 6 this year, police were alerted to a road traffic collision in Rake Lane, Little Stanney.
Officers found Ford who told them she had drunk two pints and had misjudged the bend, collided with signage and her Mercedes A Class vehicle ended up in a field.
Mrs Tonkinson said she gave a roadside test of 60mg of alcohol per 100ml of breath but a second test at the station gave a reading of 70mg.
This disparity led to a request for a blood test, which she agreed to and she had 117mg per 100ml of blood.
In a prepared statement to police, Ford confirmed she had consumed two pints after she had ended a long-term relationship and also received news of a terminal illness for her grandmother.

Mark Evans, defending, told the court that Ford had ‘guesstimated’ that she was ok to drive and misjudged the bend.
He added: “Her co-operation from then on is impeccable, from at the scene, with police and with her early guilty plea.
“She has apologised to all parties concerned and it has had a massive impact on her.
“The court is rest assured nothing like this will happen again.
“She has since undergone therapy to address her issues and is a valuable member of the community through her charity and works with the Cadets.”
He added that she will be impacted upon for her work by a disqualification and called for as low as possible.
Chairmen of the bench Ian Williams, in fining and banning Ford, said: “You’ve pleaded guilty to diving with excess alcohol and it is made worse that you were involved in a minor road accident.”
She was fined £334 after a guilty plea and was ordered to pay £134 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
She was banned for 15 months but if she completes a drink drive awareness course by September 17, 2025 then will be able to drive by November 17 that year.
