VAUXHALL MOTORS triumphed 3-2 at home to Mossley to hang on to top spot in the Northern Premier League’s West Division.
A Jawad Jebrin cross on the right hand side found its way into the back of the net and Josh Quarless made it 2-0 to give Danny Holmes’ side the perfect start.
Mossley wasted no time in responding as Jack Marrow pulled a goal back.
But Paddy Kay made sure Motors went in at half-time with a two-goal advantage as he scored three minutes before the half-time whistle.
Eric Yahaya scored in stoppage time to make it 3-2 but Motors, who host Avro on Saturday, held on for the points.
In the West Cheshire League, fourth-placed Division One title challengers, Newton, with goals from Dom Earle and Joel Burns, enjoyed a 2-1 victory over Runcorn Sports.
Colm Lynch bagged both goals for Rainhill Town, but it was the hosts, Capenhurst Villa who profited, with Nathan Lightfoot, Aiden Hill and Ellis Williams sealing a 3-2 win.
It was a similar tale of woe for Heswall, who scored through Graham Mort (2) and Harry Wood, but Litherland Remyca Reserves sneaked it 4-3.
Aintree Villa were 5-1 winners over Ellesmere Port Town, who hit back via Lewis Jones.
Marshalls overcame Vauxhall Motors Reserves 4-1, thanks to efforts from Jack Storey, Jack Ward, Josh Panther and Jude Mante. Teddy Woodland netted Motors’ consolation.
Division Two pacesetters, FC Kirkby, went six points clear at the top following a 4-0 success at Chester Nomads Reserves and there was no stopping Higher Bebington Kelma as Jack Bolderstone, Jack Marshall, Dylan Jeffery, Ussumane Jalo, Cam Twist, Jamie Woods and an own goal secured a 7-0 win over Helsby Reserves.
Runcorn Sports Reserves beat Aintree Villa Reserves 4-3 and Sutton Rangers were 4-2 winners over West Kirby Reserves to maintain their two-point advantage at the top of Division Three.
Jude Keith and Joel West were on the mark for the visitors, while nearest rivals, Neston Nomads U23s, beat Cammell Laird 1907 U23s 3-0 thanks to Sam Hayley, Adam Matthews and Ollie Price.
Maghull U23s edged past Shaftesbury 1-0, AFC Knowsley U23s went down 3-1 to Sefton Park Rangers while previous leaders, Christleton, scored through Euan McKay but were held to a 1-1 draw by Heswall U23s, whose Thomas Davies replied.
Great Sutton’s 7-1 win at Ellesmere Port Town U23s featured efforts from Leo Jones (3), Liam McCrellis, Sam Bonner, Dylan Cotgrave and an own goal. Ben Sweeney scored for the Port.
In the Youth Division, Mossley Hill beat second-placed Helsby 1-0 allowing leaders, Athletico Blues, to open up a five-point lead at the top after they edged out South Liverpool 3-2.
Hooton savoured a 4-1 result over Newton SGA, thanks to efforts from Patrick Tabiner, Carl Lidgett, Roman Kenny and James Grahame, while Vauxhall Motors’ Adam Parry (2), Bobby Houghton (2) and Dennis Mulville scored in a 5-1 win over Litherland.
West Kirby United beat Christleton 2-1 thanks to Oscar Wilkinson and Lewis Greenhalgh. Tom Farrall hit back for Christleton.
In the Chester and Wirral League’s Premier Division, Hoole Rangers closed the gap on the leaders with a 3-0 victory over Cestrian Alex. Godwin Nweze (2) and Martin Graves lifted Rangers to third place and Upton JFC moved up to fourth after a thrilling 6-5 win over bottom side Christleton UDA.
Dom Trejo (2), Yaya Kamara, Asher Morris, and Cooper Nelson scored for Christleton but Joe Williams’ four-goal haul helped Upton home, Alfie Wood and Tom Berry their other scorers.
Handbridge claimed a 4-2 win over Chester Nomads Thirds, with Joey Hancox (2), Ryan Bradley and Simon Cubbin on the scoresheet. Nomads hit back through Callum Pepler and Macaulay Salter.
Kelsall were 2-1 winners at Hoole Rovers, Mike Taylor scoring twice.
The top clash in the Championship saw third-placed Lache go down 3-2 at leaders Whitegate United. Tommy Booth and an own goal kept Lache in the game but Tom Carney’s hat-trick secured the win.
West Kirby U21s claimed a 3-2 win over Ellesmere Port Town U21s. Jude Keith, Derek McShane, and Adam Evans got the goals with Jake Pirie and Aaron Worthington replying.
FC Farndon beat Upton JFC Thirds 3-1 thanks to Alex Cleland, Sam Williams and Will Yardley.
