AN Ellesmere Port school is allowing pupils to arrive later than normal on Monday morning to give them the opportunity to watch England in the final of the European Championships.
Whitby Heath Primary School wants to give parents the option to bring children in by 10.15am so they are well rested as a result of the Three Lions' clash with Italy at Wembley kicking off at 8pm on Sunday.
The usual opening times will remain in place.
In a letter to parents and carers, headteacher Rebecca Jewitt said: "As you will be aware, it has been 55 years since England reached a major football final.
"Sunday 11th July is a huge occasion for our country. We recognise that many parents/carers will be allowing their child/ren to watch the Euro 2020 cup final on Sunday.
"We would rather children come to school well rested after a late night. Therefore, we will be allowing children to arrive to school by 10:15am on Monday 12th July.
"The usual bubble opening times will still be in place but parents/carers will have the option to bring their child/ren into school any time up to 10:15am.
"If your child/ren will be coming to school at their usual start time, please continue to enter via their usual gates/entrances.
"If your child/ren will be coming to school after their bubble start time has closed, up to 10:15am, then please bring them in via the main entrance for drop off.
"We hope that this will give parents and children the opportunity to watch the final together, take pride in what our country has achieved, build resilience if needed and know that as a school community and country, we are all in this together."
