A Chester care home is set to bring Paris to the city as they host their very own version of the Olympics.

Deewater Grange, is opening its doors on July 25 from 11am to 3pm to invite the community for their own Games.

This event is a part of The Big Care UK Sports Day - a nationwide campaign where 130 Care UK homes host sports days.

Visitors can soak up the sporting atmosphere, compete in games such as egg-and-spoon races, darts, and basketball, and even have a chance to win gold medals.

The care home is urging visitors to dress up in 80s exercise wear while the team will be in Lycra, leg warmers, and sweat bands.

There will also be a summer barbecue and live music to add to the excitement.

Eight other Care UK homes will be joining the event including Abney Court, Hollins Park, Station House, Oxbow Manor, Pinetum, Paisley, Riverside and Oakfield Croft.

Deewater Grange’s home manager, Sally Cooper, said: "We’re delighted to be welcoming the local community to join our own sporting celebrations."

She added: "Days like this are a fantastic way of bringing us together for a little healthy competition and to celebrate this year’s summer of sport, all while showcasing exactly what life is like here at Deewater Grange.

"The day not only promises laughter and enjoyment for all involved, but also is an excellent way for residents to meet and mingle with lots of new faces – and some familiar ones – while keeping active.

"We can’t wait until kick-off!"
