Malpas Parish Council has confirmed it will donate nearly £200 to the outstanding balance to ensure the King’s Chair remains in the village. The decision was taken at its recent monthly meeting and that the chair would be returned to the Red Lion pub, once it has undergone any future refurbishment, and a formal request for the council to act as a trustee for the chair will be made.
With a break in the rain and the cold weather, 16 members, plus two dogs, took part in Malpas Field Club’s annual New Year Ramble on Sunday, January 7. This was a four-mile walk, on a crisp sunny day, taking in Ebnal, Hollowood, Overton Common and the Ox Heyes.
Malpas Parish Council will hold its first meeting of the new year on Monday, with a packed agenda. The meeting, which starts at 7pm in the Jubilee Hall, will being with its traditional items on the agenda, such as an open forum for residents to air any issues as well as receiving reports from Cheshire Police.
Malpas MP Antoinette Sandbach has welcomed the additional funding allocated to local NHS services to prepare for the winter months. Extra support has been given to the Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to help ease extra pressure.
Politics was on the agenda at Bishop Heber School in Malpas as students quizzed MP Antoinette Sandbach. The Eddisbury MP, whose constituency covers Malpas, met GCSE and A-level students and took part in a ‘one-woman question time’.
